As a friend of mine put it upon hearing that Lou Reed died earlier today at the age of 71:  Cause of death…being Lou Reed. Or something along those lines.

Still, what can you say about an artist like Lou Reed? Influential? Groundbreaking? We know all that so we’re just going to go with a heartfelt “Thanks for the music, Lou”.

We will also point out that Lou came up with the term Ostrich Guitar to describe a guitar that has all six strings tuned to the same note. He first used it on his early parody dance track The Ostrich which, as we’ve posted below, makes today our saddest Ostrich News ever.

Now as sad as all of that is, rejoice that the music happened at all. R.I.P, Lou.
